Shropshire Sheep for Sale

The SSBA recommends two ways for members to offer stock for sale and buyers to see available stock.

GRASSROOTS:

Members can flag sheep as for sale using the Grassroots online pedigree recording system. Members and non-members can access the sheep for sale section of Grassroots.

Click here to access the Grassroots system.

For members – full instructions for use are available to download on this page of the website. Use your usual log in and the follow the on-screen instructions using the search facility (the magnifying glass in the top right) to search for members and sheep for sale or available for AI.

For non-membersclick the link to access and use logon “GUEST” and password “Welcome99” to access the system. Then follow the on-screen instructions using the search facility (the magnifying glass in the top right) to search for members and sheep for sale.

SELL MY LIVESTOCK (SML):

SSBA members use SML to sell stock. It is important that buyers are aware of the SSBA rules about members selling sheep:

All lambs must be birth notified in their year of birth.

Female sheep over 4 months of age then have to be registered by the breeder before being sold.

Male sheep must be birth notified and can be registered by the breeder or new owner (if a member of the SSBA).

Before buying any sheep off SML, always check the pedigree status. Ask to see the pedigree certificates or proof that pedigree certificates have been applied for. If you a member of the SSBA you can use the search facility on Grassroots to check the status of any sheep.  If you not a member of the SSBA then contact the Registrar (registrar@shropshire-sheep.co.uk) who can check the status of the sheep.

Click here to go to the SML website.

Below is a current list of Shropshire Sheep in the Shropshire portal – this is being run down as no longer in use, so make sure to check the full website for all Shropshires using the link above.
